The US "defense" department needed an excuse to keep all the fundings they had for the Afghanistan war (and more) and now they have it thanks to Putin. I'm sure Raytheon and Lockheed Martin are happy to lobby and keep the war going until the last Ukranian or the last Russian as long as the profits keep rolling in.
