The technology has always been here. Australia is one of the greatest rail nations in the world. I am an avid railroad follower. I have been on every conceivable railroad combination in this country and New Zealand.
The big problem with this country is the changing climates. One day you have torrential floods, the next day blistering heat.
I believe that so called rail "disaster" was testement to the excellent rail system we have in this country.
No one dead, some injured, but given the circumstances, the entire train should have been totaly loss.
