Yep, @lexcorp ... you are right. However, Types of GAPs has been 'heatedly' discussed here(HC) before ... many, many times ... so I won't go there in detail other than to say I clearly said an "Opening GAP" was created today and still not filled. Now, some Opening GAPs are within the previous day's Candle's range, as you allude too and what has happened in LLL today, but some are breakaway GAPs ... either above/below previous day's range, consolidation pattern or TL's. Take your pick as to the actual importance rating of each type.
Having said that, I know most intraday traders swear by, and successfully trade, GAPs created by Opening Gaps ... Up or Down (versus last session's close)and weigh their trading entry positions for their Day Trades purely basis the nature(size) of the GAP. Many Opening GAPs are filled on the day but some aren't filled on the same day, can take many day's, week's to fill or never just like other types of GAPs .
As for LLL's SP action today; I'm happy with that 'GAP?' but happier we finished on today's high and with higher vols than the last couple of day's. Hopefully more SP rise tomorrow and even more vol.
