On Elliott - my big picture idea is a bit different. If you use the S&P rather than the Dow then the top in 2007 was only a whisker above the 2000 high. So I am thinking ..... take the 2000 high as THE TOP so that the 2003 low becomes Big A and the 2007 high Big B and the decline into 2009 becomes Big C so this is Big D up or part of it with still Big E down to come. Allowing time for a base could easily take us out to 2012. I know there are other interpretations particularly if you use something like the Wiltshire which some people believe is more representative of the US economy. I just like to have some sort of road map in my mind as a backdrop to what is happening in the short term.
