One of the issues is that permitting in Quebec requires navigating processes with the Canadian government, the Quebec government and the local indigenous community. For instance, Allkem has been given clearance by the Canadian government but is still stuck in the other two processes.

If you've got the time, malibu, here is a presentation by an informed and articulate bloke I've not heard of before. I think he makes a good argument but not sure how solid some of his assumptions and claims are. For a short-cut you might jump to about the 12:00 mark where he talks about the number of lithium mines needed and then to about the 19:00 mark where he talks about how long it takes to go mining.
