Hi Alex,
a good find from old geo.
For the technically minded excellent presentation by Dr Darren Ferdinado, Talon Petroleum exploration Manager.
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/346887757_The_Kingia_'Fm'_-_what_is_it
It looks like deposited iron rich muddy Kingia sandstones have the best chance of preserving porosity and more importantly permeability as seen by current chlorite quartz grain coatings, for any gas in a valid structural trap.
As a retired geo/geofizz with some North Perth Basin exploration experience, I would like to see the net Kingia reservoir contours superimposed on the gross Kingia Isopach map shown, to see if any trend could be discerned as to the location of Kingia reservoir 'sweet spots'. But such a map would be limited at present as not a lot of data points.
But I certainly agree with Alex and old geo that the Dandaragan Trough sited on the eastern margin of the North Perth basin looks very promising for prospective Kingia sandastone reservoir. Drilling over the next 12 months of Minres/Norwest LD-2, NED-1, LD-3, LD-4 and BPT/Mitsui Trigg-1 will provide a few more data points.
Good stuff above for the techos and I am sure that Minres geos have done their homework resulting in the Minres CFO saying recently that Minres/Norwest haven't drilled the best spot yet at the Lockyer Deep Gas Field.
Above is all the more reason for Minres to improve their share swap offer to Norwest shareholders over the current 'low ball' offer.
And based on the above geological speculation I can see why 'the wildcatter' Norwest shareholders wish to stay the distance and accept the drilling risk, if any. Again, the 'rotary lie detector' will reveal all.
This is speculation and not financial advice and please DYOR
