By his own admission Gates admits bias because he has a vested interest in Newscale.
Despite Congress legislating, in 1987 for a permanent repository for nuclear waste, that has still not eventuated. Gates claims that there's very little waste generated, yet the US alone produces 2000metric toms (4530m3) annually, with most of it stored at nuclear power generating sites.
This is waste created at the end of the cycle. There is vastly more radioactive waste stored as radioactive tailings sands at mine sites, where the bulk of radioactive material unrecovered remains.
