I had the privilege of visiting Chuck at his home back in 2019. He was an interesting man, and he was grateful that I made the effort - and it was a sobering as well as joyful experience for me to see someone with such a twisted body still finding joy in living, welcoming a blow-in visitor, who would only become a distant friend - and having a cerebral and warm conversation with him. As you probably know, he was Jewish, I am originally from Austria and my forbears might have been suspect to him, alas they were little people ground down by the same wheels of fate which ground down his people - he understood that - we had an immediate friendship going in that short hour, it was amazing!
I am so sorry to only find out now of his passing, hope he didn't suffer - and I have his name somewhere in an old address book which I seem to have mislaid. I, too would be interested to see the tribute to this brave man - which is probably available by now?! probably much too late for condolences, but I am glad he lived, had a son (maybe other children I don't know) a wife and contributed by his work to this great country (an HC) . He was a great poster! I am in tears now - too little, too late! Taurisk
