Sorry about that Raks... Take "2" ....didn't mean to offend anyone...

Have many times completed my HUET and I'm sure many other guys and girls on this forum have as well, and after doing that training I will take younger mid-20's mid-30's cabin crews anyday to be able to physically and mentally cope with a full blown emergency in an airliner, as there job is to get the exit doors open if near then(even when they maybe be strapped in their seats, upside down in darkness in cold water)deploy rafts from door frame if possible... after that they would get pushed out the door buy the panicing everyman for himself terror crowd behaviour that is ensuing behind them in the dark, cold water filled steel coffin that everybody wants to get out and get out off... You can not argue that an generally older female cabin crew member would perform better in that critical situation.... !!! think about it !!

For the Hudson crash, that was in a calm protected inland river with no large mid Atlantic or Pacfic swells to clip on wing and send the whole aircraft tumbling into a twisted mess, along with being 100 meters from one of the worlds biggest cities with dozens of rescue boats on hand within minutes... same event at 37,000 feet at night mid Pacfic ocean would be a different outcome.

The Indonesian crash was over the runway and from memory burning in the front section and so cabin crew are both front and rear, at the rear you and the crew would have to jump to safety from the toxic smoke and run for ur life before the fuel blows, the young hostess mentioned would probably have been forced that way by emergency personel.

.... LOL .. or are you seriously saying that one of the Qantas cabin crew, who can't even give you a pen to fillout your landing card, are now going to run back into the flames and toxic gas that can kill you in 10 seconds, and rescue you ?? LOL

If a passenger becomes ill, they PA "is there a doctor on board" and other than that the pilots make way to the nearest port while the cabin crew lay the passenger out with an oxygen mask, you dont need 30 years of pushing food trolleys on a plane to get that done !!!

How many of the female Qantas international cabin crew could even swim 50 meters, or turn an upside life raft up ?? I have a old girl friend from Bangkok who now works Jetstar and this is what she had to do in training, swim 50 meters... the old Qantas crew would be complaining if they get overtime for this crash, thats if they haven't had a heart attack yet after the captain announced for everyone to assume the brace position as we are making an ocean landing !!!

I standby every word I say about Qantas cabin crew, they deliver disgraceful service to the passenger and most would be of NO use in a real emergency !!!!

YOU pay to be on a plane !! They ARE payed to be on that plane.. Its their job and it is the airlines job to ensure that the best people are on hand to get you out of that steel tube alive !!!

....If you were trapped in a burning car, would you want a old lady to be sent to pull you out of a burning car, or a young man ??? it's not having a go at anybody, it may not be politically correct to say it, but it is true !!!

Singapore Airlines know this, Qantas do not.
