UBI -- Or --UI -- why not just a So You Don't Die Payment ---SYDDP.

using very basic figures for the example --
lts say - the Average Australian Worker takes Home $1000 a week.-- they say the Dole is around $40 a day and there is calls to increase it to $88 a day --so lets call the SYDDP -- a Payment of $600 A Week.

The STDDP of $600 is paid to EVERY Australian Citizen Aged 18 years and over.
If You were on the Dole --You now get $600 a week. -- However the Dole is Now stopped.
If you are a Pensioner -- You now get $600 a week -- However the Pension is Now Stopped.
If You work as a Tradie or Retail or Office worker -- You now get $600 a week --As Well as any INCOME You earn at your current job.
If You are the CEO of a Company or a Member of Parliament -- You now get $600 a week as well as Your current Fees or Salaries.

All Personal Income TAX is now Stopped.
A Medicare Levy of 5% is now levied on All SYDDP and Incomes earnt - to ensure Health Services Continue. --
A 2% levy on Suprannuation Contributions - will be applied and collected by The Federal Govt.
All Businesses will Pay a Transaction levy of 10% -- to the Federal Govt.
A GST of 20% will be applied to All Transactions -- other then Current Exceptions ( eg Fresh Foods).

All other Welfare Services are cancelled.

The Wealthy and Elite Salary workers will probably just direct the STDDP to their Superannuation Policies.

The GST will be split -- with 10% allocated to the States -- and 10% held by the Federal Govt.

A Family run about car worth 30,000 - will have a $6000 GST levy.
A $3.2Million Dollar Yacht will have a $640,000 GST levy.

Th Average worker on $1000 take home plus the SYDDP of $600 -- may decide $1600 is OK -- but may be Happy to Reduce their working Week from 5days down to 3 or 4 days -- and are prepared to live on $1400 a week -- to have more leisure time.

This would enable part-time jobs for others who only receive the SYDDP of $600 a week who may work 1 or 2 days to boost their Income up to say $750 per week.-- But the choice will be theirs.

That is how I envision a UBI -- as a SYDDP --So You Don't Die Payment.

How people choose to live is up to them.
