This is disappointing but not surprising. Our TGA seems to believe it is the world's best expert in drugs and medical devices. It takes no notice of approvals given elsewhere in the world. It took 6 weeks delay to approve AstraZenica vaccine after the British authorities had approved it in late Dec 2020 after extensive research and comprehensive testing in the UK. Our TGA took 6 weeks to review exactly the same data, without any additional research. it took 6 weeks to add exactly zero value to the level of testing and research. And then after several months our authorities flip flopped on the age group the vaccine was appropriate for, based on scant evidence, and only served to increase general reluctance to receive the vaccine. Their delays and flip flopping cost lives in Australia and set us back months in getting the population immunised against the virus. Now they show they think they are more expert than the FDA. This is a ridiculous decision. I hope we appeal and it's successful, but I don't have a lot of hope. Indonesia and Japan are bigger fish to fry anyway. We should focus our attention on getting approval in those countries.
