This the latest and promising remark by the Minister of Resources , Madeline King , quoted in the Australian newspaper this afternoon will have the final say for the approval for Pep 11, who has promised to follow “ the law “ when considering to approve or reject pep 11 when it eventually falls on her desk after the NSW Liberals reject it ( that if they win as they are in caretaker mode and cannot make a decision until a new parliament is NSW is sworn in after the march NSW state election )
It gives me more hope that some rare economic rationality is present in the Labor Government that understand that rejecting this huge potential gas field that would have a negative impact on our international investment status with our major trading and investment partners of Japan and South Korea . Also the badly needed increase in gas supply and security for the east coast of Australia will be damaged if we don’t find more gas to supply the huge industrial and agricultural base that is dependent on having access to affordable gas supplies in order to remain competitive and help reduce costs in order that Inflation is combated which is the Government’s number one priority and the high cost of energy is one of the main drivers of this inflation
