Good morning pickubrains (love that name) and Dex,
Mr. Rudd is in election mode and under pressure to "not be seen flipping" on another policy. This is important for his perceived credibility.
So instead of proceeding with the carbon trading scheme as intended (because he couldn't for now) he has to be seen to be doing something "green" to appease the green vote and align his efforts along the global warming track.
What Dex said here is correct UCG and CSG are about base load power and the alternatives are useful for topping up supply and relieving some demand. Dex has wisely stated before that we are addicted to hydrocarbons, plastics, fertilisers etc etc as a society.
The whole point about UCG is efficiency of resource utilization and its appeal as a greener use of hydrocarbons with comparatively minimal impact on the environment.
Highwayman where are you? Get off that tractor man :-) you have made some excellent points before about the political undercurrents surrounding UCG they are compelling stuff. Obama visit etc. UCG is on the agenda don't worry about that. You have also spoken about the deployment of the CO2 seen on your trip to Russia. Carbon credits aside CO2 is a growth accelerator for plants and might be a useful income stream if viable technology can be perfected. For those that aren't aware CO2 is easily separated in the UCG process.
Last points - great SP action yesterday great signs of latent demand. The CAT is coming and advancing at a rapid pace. Thanks to TFHN too for his conformation - I have conformation also that I had the right "take" on the announcement and what it means. Best of luck to CNX in resolving their issues if they are reading this.
It is my respectful belief that CXY is the leader in this technology and race to commercialization in Australia which now leads a very interested world. Good luck and thanks to the CXY team they are doing a great job!
DYOR: Ra ra on this post - you bet; I want to see my investment and this technology make it to main stream.
Cheers,
CW
