I'm not sure anyone is ignoring the inevitable.
The fact remains however, that without governments around the world (such as the EU) flat out banning the sale of ICE powered vehicles, the uptake of EVs would be snail-paced slow. Because on essentially any meaningful metric you wish to use, they are worse than their ICE equivalent.
There is essentially zero reason for Australia to ban the sale of new ICE cars as around 2035 it's all manufacturers will be offering thanks to draconian, and almost communistic, government mandates.
