Pre Putin's wholesale invasion a year ago it was extremely unlikely Ukraine would be admitted to NATO due to the border issues initiated by Putin.
There's strict criteria and it requires the unanimous support of all member States. How likely would that have been up to 12 months ado and for the preceding 8 years ? Snowball's chance in hell. And Putin knew this.
Probably a major driver of Putin's initial cross border adventures, interference and invasion of 2014.
The suggestion Ukraine joining NATO was a factor in Putin's invasion of the last 12 months is complete nonsense, just like all his other nonsense 'excuses'.
