Saving of brokerage is a small advantage, There are possible advantages to buying on market which mean more to some than others:
• You get to choose how many you want to acquire;
• You pay up front, but don't hang around waiting for the change if scaled-back.
Could the SPP not "go through"? I don't think so; the company has given itself room to accept more than the target, or less than what is applied for, Some people would have already applied and sent payment, so probably not possible to cancel.
