Practically speaking small arms like pistols are better handling and easier to conceal for a potential shooter (eg, Virginia tech, Colombine)
Statistically speaking, if one defines "mass shooting" outside of the narrow focus of "a nut takes a gun to a school", small arms are overwhelmingly the weapon of choose for "mass shooters".
And yet for some reason you, KBear and the USG are hyper focused on AR pattern rifles.
