Datt joining just affects the future path of the company, because he'll advise what path he thinks will be best (based on the inside information given to him more frequently).
- Cutting costs by Firing vs Firing and replacing with stronger staff vs doing nothing.
- Cutting marketing vs reallocating marketing vs increasing.
- Crypto vs HK etc vs IPOs/capital raisings vs advisor platform vs other products.
- Who gets hired for the board.
- Whether focusing on market share growth/retention vs shorter-term cashflow.
- What to do with the $10m cash.
- Which target markets to focus on (eg. Stake having a focus on small-scale investors).
And my idea still stands. A loyalty program equivalent to a $1 discount per trade (eg. $10 credit towards ETF purchases per 10 trades completed), to make us a little more competitive with the budget brokers, without sacrificing too much revenue by trying to price match. There could even be 'goals', like -
* for people with >80% of their money in non-ETFs, 'increase the Safety Score of your portfolio by adding a new ETF - reward 2 extra loyalty points'
* for people who didn't trade for >30 days 'make a regular contribution to your portfolio. Gain 2 reward points for your first purchase each month' (this could even show for everybody, or an increased reward for people who didn't trade for >30 days).
* 'Check the dividend history of 3 dividend paying companies. Reward 1 loyalty point. Progress: 0/3'
Cost of 2 rewards points is $2 lost revenue, but it could help with increasing trades, or retaining customers, or keeping them from going dormant/disinterested. If the trade revenue falls from $9.50 to $7.50 on those specific trades, it still has a gross profit, since I think the cost of brokerage is $4-5. Plus the interest benefit of retaining customers, or having them deposit money to use for trades.
Lately, with interest being a higher proportion of revenue, giving a discount on brokerage is even more cost effective than previously.
Eg.
70:30 brokerage, interest.
To give a 10% discount on brokerage means 7% of revenue lost, for 5% more users (5% is an example).
vs 30:70 brokerage, interest.
To give a 10% discount on brokerage means 3% of revenue lost, for 5% more users.
