The article was posted not so much for the 'heatwave' but due to the reporting anomalies.

It seems that reporters these days can simply pull up an article that was written in another time, rehash it a with a few minor editing modifications, even use the same or similar pictures and then try to 'sell' the story all without leaving their comfy air conditioned studio surroundings. After all, who would want to be in situ with a microphone and video crew when it is above 40 deg C (unless one heads to the beach).

As for heatwaves, by definition one considered to be such when on 3 or more consecutive days of unusually high maximum and minimum temperatures occur in a region. The two states mentioned did have 3 or more consecutive days of rather hot weather but it was nothing that 'unusual' as after all, it is summer when 40 plus temperatures are normal - though hot nevertheless. Climate change promoters love hot weather:

    Excerpt:

WA weather delivers Perth its hottest summer on record as scientists predict trend to continue

Did it continue into this year?? No headlines to that effect as such.

In SA, some may recall when a few years ago people had to contend with temperatures of around 48 deg C - a time when one did not need to visit a sauna. I am not aware of those temperatures being repeated since in that state.

Thus the heat is on for reporters to find more records fuelled by the climate narrative but in recent days have to be content with days only 40 deg C or just a tad over. For SA, that is normal though perhaps a little late in summer.

If reporters can do a simple rehash of past media reports to a simple weather report, imagine what sort of 'factual' rehash report they can do in other situations. The power of misleading media and yet so much reliance and acceptance of such. Plus of course they're looking for 'new records' and attention seeking headlines - when 'bad' news becomes 'good' news.
