Difficult to see how Tesla or any other electric vehicle manufacturer could eliminate the use of rare earth magnets in their cars, Paraneuve. Or the manufacturers of wind turbine generators, MRI scanners, speakers/headphones, etc, etc.
Permanent magnets are just one major use for REEs.
Could you provide a reference for your claim?
Perhaps the Chinese companies you mention are down instead because of Mr Biden's Inflation Reduction Act, with its emphasis on clean energy and securing sources of local or, at any rate, secure and friendly supply. (I would see that as a positive for potential Aussie producers - a view, I think shared by Gina Rinehart, who has made clear her intention to pivot into rare earths.)
It's true, there are many REE (as there are lithium) hopefuls on the Australian bourse. What distinguishes G88's push into rare earths is the geological plausibility of Quicksilver as an REE setting, the Company's empirical assaying success to date - and, most significantly, the fact (as from Wednesday's Announcement):
The REE and scandium mineralisation is in addition to the defined nickel and cobalt Resource and could be potential by-products.
Which is to say, they are expected to be worked into a production flowsheet for extracting other valuable minerals, not require a stand-alone operation.
