I would vote Liberal if Hockey or turnbull took the reigns. But they must be able to say what their policies are. They seem to be very reserved when it comes to fighting this government.
I didn't agree with the $900 payout. I thought it was a receipe for disaster. But then I saw the other side of the coin. Do you know how much of the $45 billion dollars paid out has been returned or been saved by the goverment? Lets just say a lot of people who were avoiding child support by not lodging a tax return all of a sudden lodged their return to get the $900. The ATO and Child support now has updated details of them, and has forced them to pay back all child support owing which in some cases was 10 years worth. This meant a lot less single parents were not reliant on Family Tax Benefit anymore because of the child support payments coming in. In cases were a single mother recieved FTB because the ex wasn't paying child support, the Child support agency collected the money and reimbursed the Family Assistance Office.
Do you know how many people were avoiding lodging their returns because they owed tax? When the government announced that $900 would be given to everyone who lodged a 2008 return, these people saw it as an opportunity to save $900 and so lodged their return and paid the ATO the debts plus interest.
Most of the $45 billion has been returned through back taxes and child support and FTB payments.
This prime minister is a lot smarter than people give him credit for.
