Without wanting to be flippant ... it is a greek tragedy ... and they are grieving ... Stage 2 morphing to Stage 3 I'd say ...

    7 Stages of Grief...

    1. SHOCK & DENIAL-

numbed disbelief .... deny the reality of the loss ... avoid the pain ... shock provides emotional protection ... may last for weeks.

    2. PAIN & GUILT-

the shock wears off ... suffering of unbelievable pain ... need to experience the pain fully, and not hide it ... possible remorse ... life feels chaotic and scary.

    3. ANGER & BARGAINING-

frustration gives way to anger ... may lash out and lay unwarranted blame elsewhere ... control needed to avoid permanent damage to relationships ... a time for the release of bottled up emotion ... attempts to bargain in vain for a way out of despair.

    4. "DEPRESSION", REFLECTION, LONELINESS-

a long period of sad reflection .... a normal stage of grief ... encouragement from others is not helpful during this stage ... finally realize the true magnitude of loss, and it depresses ... may sense feelings of emptiness or despair.

    5. THE UPWARD TURN-

adjust to life without ... life becomes a little calmer and more organized ... "depression" begins to lift slightly.

    6. RECONSTRUCTION & WORKING THROUGH-

becoming more functional ... mind starts working again ... seeking realistic solutions to problems ... start to work on practical and financial problems and reconstructing.

    7. ACCEPTANCE & HOPE-

learning to accept and deal with the reality of the situation ... acceptance does not necessarily mean instant happiness ... can never return to the carefree, untroubled times that existed before this tragedy. But there is a way forward.

    Cheers
