civil cases as far as I'm aware are very different to criminal cases..
in a civil cases the plaintiff is not punishing the defendant rather recouping losses for the defendants negligence..
it's that simple..the defendant dosnt have to have been financially rewarded via his or her actions rather the plaintiff has jst got to prove loss and the reason y..
again I'm jst a hotdog not a lawyer so if that situation should arise best get legal advice from a professional as I might be wrong
