Here are some weather undates for Mt Isa & Cloncurry — very wet , right NOW.

People may not understand the implications of the annual wet season in the first part of the year, & flooding potentials into March as currently being experienced.

(of course there are also many dry years as well, though significant record- breaking flooding occurred in 2019 as well to break a long drought prior )
Copper and gold discoveries resulted after the food waters receded due to significant areas of erosion and uncovering of deeper rocky areas I think.
