Eagle - go back before the GST. Weren't the TV's you enjoy watching taxed at 33% sales tax? Some items had 10%, or 11%, or 22%. You never saw it at the retail front as it was paid by importers and you just paid the ticket price...
The GST is paid at the retail arm (as well as along the way through the chain) so we all know about it as consumers..
