Hi Lautrec, Would have to take issue with you on this. By definition, speciation means populations which cannot interbreed and produce fertile offspring. What this research shows, if confirmed, is that the evolutionary divergence of sapiens and the neanderthals had not progressed past, for want of a better term, sub-species status. Think the family tree will look a bit different in a few years. Really interesting times ahead for human evolutionay studies, as well as theories regarding spread of homo sapiens thru the world. cheers
