Yes Flats, it is off-topic but you bought it up! Do you for a minute think that the majority of business in Australia reside in the CBD? Thanks for the free kick, what a rediculous statement! What happened to being a progressive economy?
Sungar,
Seems you've done some research but what you don't say is that the R&D criteria have only tightened due to apparent rorting by a few, the majority will be unaffected and still claim tax concessions for ACTUAL R&D costs.
Also the 7500 jobs you mentioned, construction phase only! What then 150 jobs? The skills shortage in Australia is a result of the consistent reduction of apprenticeships on offer through the 90's and 00's. If apprenticeships on offer had grown side by side with population we wouldn't have a skills shortage.
How much downstream processing does Clive Palmer do in Australia? Downstream processing is where the LONG TERM jobs are. Gas is processed in Australia before being sent overseas. Even with the 40% tax I bet you'll find that with their other tax concessions the $/tonne is on average lower in Australia than most other places.
The oil we mine in Australia is sold both locally and overseas as not all of our oils are suitable for local refinery feedstock.
Some people have no scrupples, I reckon if some owned all of the resource projects in Australia they'd still sell them all to overseas interests for the right price tomorrow. These people don't give a rats about you, me or Australia.
