There is a shortage of the REE metals so if Tesla wants to expand quickly it seems rational that they have to look at something else.
There have been stories that it will make a marginal (4%) difference to demand.
This is also the beauty of ASM if they can get into production because even if demand drops on REE more than the stated 4%, they are planning on having a diversity of products and won't be totally reliant on one income stream.
Anyway money talks and BS walks so we will have to wait and see how it goes.
