LOL BiggDaddy, That must be tongue in cheek. I refer only to the politics forum. You must give the small number of government supporting posters on this forum some credit for their efforts in such a hostile forum. On productivity and intelligence there would be many who are well endowed in that regard. Mind you reading the stock and trading threads it seems quite a number are very effective at losing money. Not so productive.
Just in case we get carried away with wealth creation and share trading for the average trader there a lot of people who have never bought shares but have created wealth by engaging in alternative investments.
One of these that I personally know was a manual worker who worked for pretty low wages all his life until retirement. This worker could in fact have retired long before because he had become very wealthy years earlier because after he had built some equity in his home in an older inner city suburb he would buy any home that came up for sale in his street. He used the equity in his original property and as the years ticked over the equity in the additional homes he had bought. He stuck to his own street and it was a first class strategy as being very old homes people tended to sell to move into new/newer homes elsewhere.
By the time he retired he owned nearly every house in the street and was extremely asset rich. He only had a primary school education. Rising Rents, rising values, negative gearing all worked to make this basic wage worker richer than some of the people considered top flight businesspeople. Whats the relevance to this thread besides responding to your comments. He always votes Labor and his reasoning is that he worked hard as a manual worker but he remembered all the Liberal Governments who opposed increases to the basic wage. He realised he was fortunate in accruing his wealth but he also realised that not everybody was up to that but they still worked very hard within their capabilities and deserved better consideration.
