I mentioned in a post some time ago that one can transfer shares from CHESS sponsorship to Issuer Sponsorship where there is no registration under the control of the broker. If most of your shares are long term hold perhaps you could transfer them from CHESS sponsorship. In the event you need funds, the shares can be transferred back to CHESS sponsorship at no cost as far as I know. I did this with my father's holdings after I discussed it with him. We both use commsec which I understand does not lend shares out.
