DavoMagic,
I was listening to Radio National yesterday afternoon, and there was a chap from the USA being interviewed about American Politics.
Amongst the many observations he made, there was one very interesting comment.
He said that people in the US with Uni Degrees where much less likely to listen to other people with a point of view different to theirs.
However, people who did not go onto tertiary education were much more likely to listen to others with a differing point of view. He did not state that they would change their minds just that the lesser educated had more open minds to other opinions.
An observation here in Australia is the amount of booing John Howard received when he performed an official task at either of the major Rugby Union or Rugby League fixtures.
He was booed longer and louder by the Rugby fans and less and quieter by the League fans. So much for the behavior of silver tails.
Says something about the many definitions of education I guess.
The Romans always maintained that if you educated people, you could control them.
MI
Disclaimer: I plaid both Union and League when I was younger.
