Hi bagman22, I have just played the 7.30 report wondering want the kerfuffle on HC was about.

As I would expect Kerry Obrien asked the hard questions and Rudd did his best to fend them. I have seen this type of hard interviewing before and frankly I dont believe the interview was a problem for Rudd. Kerry asked the pertinent questions and Rudd dealt with them He admitted to mistakes and currently going through a bad patch. On the ETS the people who get agitated about the deferral will never vote Coalition so it doesnt actually harm him. Those that change their vote because of the deferral will likely go to the Greens and preferenced to Labor. The heat will turn to Abbotts response when he gets interviewed by Kerry.

Even though Rudd is not as popular as previously it needs to be noted that Abbott is not such a popular pollie either so basically they cancel each other out with Rudd possibly still in front as preferred PM. The Newspolls will tell us of any changes in that regard.

Its actually very good that the contest has tightened somewhat and I have been saying I would like to see that happen for ages. It puts all sides on their toes instead of getting lazy and complacent. Also good for accountable government.

    cheers
