I think one of the golden rules of trading is NOT to fall in love with your holding(s).
It may be that Shorters consider or at least, include themselves as traders, therefore the above would apply and would somewhat explain the "None" sentiment claimed by some holders - even though the shares are borrowed.
"...use it wisely!"
That may have to be altered to "...use it liberally", if they keep breeding.
