not "poor kid" fellers.... just that the system in place doesn't help, but is a cause of violence.
no dan, offenders should not be let off, but sentenced to rehabilitative therapies..... yep, in a confined space where they can't escape, but remediation interventions are clearly needed in th bin.
have you ever been in prison?
you're correct (imo) Sinatra. the intervention alcohol laws were doing a good job and shouldn't have expired. the NT gov decided to relax restrictions as a process of anti-discrimination and this turned out to be a mistake.... ideals work fine until they're put into practice.
alcohol is a very dangerous drug, more so than heroin or crack. the partial prohibition never worked either, I started buying crap (cheap) whisky when I was 14.....
but total prohibition only causes black markets to rise and crim gangs make great profits from prohibition.
whats the answer?
the subject has been debated for at least 500yrs. - from my research the first prohibition was wrt tobacco in what is now Turkeye. those who were found smoking tobacco were under a sentence of death. the prohibition lasted only around 30 yrs when it was withdrawn.
