Hey Apples! Well, NOX response was "late" because it was filed 6 months after the non-final rejection, and the deadline is 3 months. (But they paid an extension fee). "Half assed" because it was rejected within a week and, as RBx pointed out, GK appears to not have been involved.
I don't know if it was less than competent and don't really care enough to spend any more time on it to find out.

Anyway, it's all a moot point if the IONIC trial is not going to proceed anyway, which is hinted at by deSouza moving on to spending his time with Filamon.
