Very interesting. What is happening with shorting is, I suppose, both clever and legal. However, it distorts a fair market; often involves comments which could be defamatory but versed in a way that would be hard to prove. In time, it will drive smaller investors away from newer developing companies. They will move to the safety of the larger, easier to read companies.
While the plethora of paid shooters would soon vanish - certainly a positive - the small investor will also be very reticent to invest. Nor will sites like Hot Copper be of interest except from those investing in the top 20 ASX companies.
