    SKUL,
The last 3 years are just a short part of the TLS history and not really relevant to their core problems. If they had been behaving properly and not screwing their customers, not only would they not be facing the dilemma with the NBN, they probably wouldn't even have Optus as a competitor.

All of Telstra's problems stem from their pugnacious, mean culture with almost universal customer dissatisfaction. You can't prosper if you are hated by your customers and rely on a monopoly to force them to stay. Eventually someone will come along and bop you on the nose. Someone like Kevin on behalf of all Aussies.

The introduction of Optus was largely to provide competition to reign in an out-of-control delinquent. It only partly succeeded. The proposed NBN is required for just the same reason.

It makes no difference who is in government. If Australia is hamstrung by this lead weight (Telstra) around its neck, in such a vital section of the infrastructure, the whole nation suffers. And Telstra shareholders suffer more than anyone. Think about the success of Google. They succeeded by nurturing the trust of their customers, not by screwing them.

Your point about a $7 share price giving a similar cap to CBA isn't really relevant because it is a different industry. (You wouldn't compare CBA and BHP for the same reason.) At $30, TLS would be more than 4X CBA if that is the case and that is probably where it should be.

$5, $3? Stop worrying about petty cash! You need an order of magnitude, not a multiple.

As for your joining the howlers... It doesn't take a great intellect to rail against a government by simply being an echo for someone else's propaganda. The government isn't attacking Telstra, the mining companies or anyone else. They are just trying to get a fair shake for all Australians.

Abbott as PM? Hahahahahahahahaha. He is nothing more than a lightweight opportunist. He will NEVER have Australia in his best interest. He just wants the glory of being in the top job.

    Dream on...
