The Riksdag rejects the motions

2022/23:303 by John E Weinerhall and Viktor Wärnick (both M) and 2022/23:936 by Tobias Andersson et al. (SD) claims 17 and 18”

I expected this and I think it makes good political sense to ‘chunk’ the uranium mining veto in with other mineral policy issues described in the Rigsdag Business Committee’s report below. The intent is to clarify and streamline mineral exploration and mining permitting and approval processes.

It’s just a delay and IMO is no big deal as it will ultimately work in Aura’s favour and facilitate Haggan’s development.

Mineral policy

Summary

The committee proposes that the Riksdag make an announcement to the government on the occasion of a motion requesting the authorities' role in permit processes. The committee believes that authorities in connection with permit processes should work more consultatively and solution-oriented than before.

The committee also proposes that the Riksdag reject other motion requests on mineral policy issues. The motion requests deal with, among other things, on permits and permit processes, bans on extraction, ownership and compensation, as well as innovation-critical metals and minerals.

The report contains 23 reservations (S, SD, M, V, C, KD, MP, L) and four special opinions (S, SD, M, V, C, KD, MP, L).
