I think one factor is how costs of establishing and running the project are treated for accounting purposes. From memory costs incurred during the development and commissioning stages are capitalised straight onto the balance sheet while costs incurred once into production are expenses which go through what used to be called the profit and loss statement. At some point companies need to draw a line and determine that the project has become a commercial enterprise with expenses and revenue. It seems for NAL that milestone has now been reached.

For sure NAL will not be all plain sailing from now on but for Sayona to deliver on time and on budget is an amazing achievement, particularly in an industry where cost and time over-runs are the standard. Brett Lynch and his team deserve lashings of praise for this.
