I know these concepts are complex, so I will type s. l. o. w. l. y. Generally speaking, moon landing denial runs hand in hand with flat earth belief. Or anti vax belief. Or 9-11 trutherism. Or Trump is a great man and lost the election because of fraud.. um ... ism. Or "space is fake!" (my personal favourite is "the ISS is fake". Despite the fact you can dial up the location any time of the day or night, and if there is a pass over your head, you can point a camera at it and take a photo within seconds of the time predicted by the multiple apps that exist for this purpose)

Basically, conspiracy loves company. All covered by poorly made and "researched" youtube videos or memes as "EviDENcE".

The evidence for the moon landings is thousands of photographs, compelling telemetry data (some via the earth stations near Canberra and Parkes, for example), acknowledgement from other goverments that it happened, scientific instruments left on the moon still in use today, hundreds of thousands of people who worked on the programme, recent photographs of the moons surface showing the sites and material left behind... that sort of thing.

The "evidence" for the moon landings NOT happening boils down to "I don't understand how this works, therefore it didn't happen" or "I don't understand how the rover got to the moon, therefore nu-uh" and "the moon is just a light in the sky, so nope!". Ie, no evidence at all.

How do you feel about the recent Artemis mission? One of the "arguments" for years (again, mainly perpetrated by flat earthers) was "Ah hah! We can't get back there! Therefore, fake!". Of course, now we CAN get back there and next year / the year after, there will be missions orbiting people around the moon again. Then landing folks there.

I am not angry about this. Just amazed.

Also, NASA's budget is about 0.5% of the total US budget. So the cost is really quite trivial in real terms and (without looking up the numbers) returns many times the budget in jobs, innovation, new research and practical things like GPS satellites, weather satellites, ground imaging, etc.
