What about the revenue that the govt stands to lose on failure to receive the already generous royalties and taxes from profits from the projects that would have otherwise gone ahead if it were not for the tax.
In my opinion, these royalties and taxes would add up to something near the size of the planned additional monies from the proposed socialist tax.
The money would arrive later however, and these labour fruitbars want the money sooner so they can say they got the budget back in the black a year or two sooner than otherwise.
