"american strategic interests - which include controlling syrian oil fields and the grain growing areas of syria .."
Watso not sure if you have compared annual American grain production, compared to the grain production of a small section of northeastern Syria? The latter does not even register, it does not even appear as a blip on the radar. it is so insignificant that the costs of stationing troops there would massively outweigh the income of any grain exports (and of course American forces have no control whatsoever over the grain there, they do not operate or man any silos or mills, they are not harvesting, so the have no means). Same applies to oil. Syria is a miniscule producer. The costs involved in stationing troops in Syria to steal oil would cost orders of magnitude more than simply buying oil on market.
'"Da Muricans are stealing da grain and oil!" Might sound good on some whacko blog, but it does not stand up to any scrutiny at all.
