TBH It’s a pretty hopeless graph by Mining.com because it doesn’t compare apples with apples.
They use a specialty highly processed lithium chemical ( lithium hydroxide/ carbonate), which is $70,000per ton in this graph.
It’s the same for the nickel ( nickel sulphate ) and cobalt ( cobalt sulphate).
These are basically then just dewatered turned to salts and then ready for use in the cathode.
Graphite included here is just for the simple purified ore not what goes into a battery which is then spherically formed and then coated, very costly/difficult .They use a $800per ton price, duh.
That’s why AAM which is >$10,000 per ton for TLG is not $800.
So the point in this figure should be to show a true cost of the materials after value added , and so battery ready.
