The bonus of ionic clays is that they are readily (cheaply) leachable using an aqueous electrolyte solution (eg Sodium Chorlide or Ammonium Sulfate) via ion-exchange process, without using acid. This is why some look for the cheap test (that most clay explorers don't use) to see how ionic it is.

IXR (and other ionic clay miners) are using acid to increase their recovery rates. This has been stated for some time now, not new information.

I agree that this is one positive step in the right direction, but there's still a way to go. And I'd rather the experts at ANSTO/CSIRO are running the programme, than someone's mate who is a geologist/metallurgist (even very good ones).

It's a process and we're going through it.

Further, ionic clays in China were very cheaply made as they didn't follow ESG credentials. eg like Brett said, they tipped the salts onto the clays at the top of the hill and made a pool at the bottom that they scooped it out from. We can't do that there and the West don't want to be buying from that type of process going forward.

It may not be like that anymore ?? But it was.
