Robert Dotson hears a knock at the door of his home at 11.30pm.
A voice allegedly identifies them as members of the Farmington Police Department.
Nobody answered initially then Dotson opened the screen door armed with a handgun.
Officers immediately opened fire. Dotson now dead.
