Death at the hands of New Zealand police is 40 since 1990. Eight police shootings per 10 million people, compared to 0.3 in England and Wales, and 2.4 in Australia.
However, in general, the US has very relaxed gun laws compared with the United Kingdom, Canada, Switzerland, Australia and Japan.
