"Patients and doctors both desperately want systematic relief, pain relief, improved function and reduce stiffness of the joint, but at the same time give them some HOPE that the disease is not going to progress to the end stage and therefore require a TKR. Many consider themselves too young to be going in for TKR so there is a very strong demand from people who have OA to stave off the disease as long as possible, and doctors feel the same way"
