Unless you have it sitting in a call account at 2% in a 7% inflationary environment in which case I would suggest to spend it all at once!! For financially illiterate folk I would suggest "spending it" by investing in a broad/diverse ETF with low management costs and reinvest the distributions - in 20 years or so you might be able to retire.
