in the 80/90s I was working in mental health. the coppers would often bring in people who had been violent, armed, threatening..... mad people, not very bright people, all desperate to feel safe. the coppers had training and skills to help defuse such situations. I'll be damned if I know why those skills were lost.

plenty were white, plenty weren't, all were treated the same with great effect. the coppers would walk these people into admissions..... where we took over.

I have great admiration and respect for police. they'll have to learn these things all over again.
