A bunch of copper cable getting taxxed every now and then isn't enough for the big SA miners to shut down their operations. I don't see why this is your major gripe about WWI when there's a bunch of clearer issues. The SA problem here has always been mostly political.

Mines operate in thousands of "dangerous" locations every day of the week. Yes, it's not the Pilbara with OHS supervised FIFO workers getting catered and paid $200k and a mid strength XXXX ration to travel to site in an air-conditioned bus and visit Bali once a fortnight.

Sure, your average Aussie driller who spends his time on site itching to get back to the city to blast his wage down a pokie and a few bags of the nose beers obviously can't cope, there's plenty of SA miners willing to grind on with it.
